First Graders at Long Cane Primary in Abbeville read “How Animals Communicate” by William Mounoz from their Journeys reading book The students then extended their learning with an Animal Research Project. Each student worked with their family to learn interesting facts about an animal they selected. Susan Scott’s First Grade students made a brochure to document their learning. The students then shared their reports with their classmates. Picture 1 is Tristin Freeman sharing his animal report on “Sharks”. Shown in picture 2 is Cate Dunlap reading her report on the “Tasmanian Devil”. The students learned that this real animal lives in Australia. The picture shows Cate reading her report and front row: Lindarius Gray, Jaylen Hill, Bria Johnson, and Layne Harrison; second row: Tristin Freeman, Jonathan Rausch, Levi Little, and Ella Busbee; third row: Blaine Vickery, Chase Henez, and Kalin Foggie; Fourth row: Giddeon Tackett and Emma Prince.
