Dixie High School Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) had thirteen members of their chapter attend the National Fall Leadership Conference in Charleston November 13-15. All but one of the members is new to the organization this year. These gave the new members the opportunity to experience and see what FBLA is all about. There were approximately 1200 students attending from across the United States.
In the Opening Session on Friday night Patty Hendrickson, a Certified Speaking Professional, gave an interactive motivational speech to the group about being yourself and striving to be the best. She kept the group’s attention with her interactive team claps. On Saturday night Alex Sheen brought tears to many of the members about how his nonprofit organization was started and what it was all about. He is the founder of “because I said I would” which involves a pledge card and a promise. Students were still talking about this program after the closing had ended. Later that night the students enjoyed the March of Dimes Blue Jean for Babies Dance with their admission fee being donated to the March of Dimes. |
