Adult Education Program Wins Awards
Congratulations to Mr. Blaise Bourgeois and the Abbeville County Adult Education program. For the 2015-16 school year, the program earned the following awards: * Performance Measures Met Award – Adult Basic Education: This award is presented to the top 5 programs with the highest aggregate averages for Adult Basic Education NRS Levels. * Post-Testing Award – Met State Goal: This award is presented to the program that met the State Goal of Post-testing 60% or more of their students. |
Interact/FFA Students Come Together for Mental Health Awareness Month
Interact students at AHS and DHS, as well as FFA students at AHS, are helping with Mental Health Awareness month. Some students from both schools went to WZLA to discuss mental health on the morning radio show. Both groups are also helping to sell the t-shirts in the community. Ms. Raines recommended that the proceeds be split between the 3 groups, but the students decided the proceeds from the t-shirts should go back into mental health. It will be donated to Mental Health America. AHS Interact/FFA members are also preparing a script and a video to help promote mental illness in youth. Dixie High School FBLA Students to Compete in California
Congratulations to Dixie High School students, Addie Little (1st Place Introduction to Business Communication) and Elizabeth Ashley (1st Place Introduction to Financial Math) and Sponsor, Ms. Beverly Sprivey. Addie and Elizabeth will compete in the FBLA National Competition in California. We wish them much success! |
Students at Cherokee Trail Elementary Perform Broadway Musical Selections
Students at Cherokee Trail Elementary dazzled the crowd on May 18th as they performed Broadway musical selections led by music teacher, Joyce Montalvo. The third, fourth, and fifth graders sang “Give My Regards to Broadway”, and selections from Oliver, Seussical, and Fiddler on The Roof. They were followed by a solo from Shelby Lawson called “Maybe”. The sixth and seventh grade chorus sang songs from Annie, Wicked, Rent, Les Miserables, and Hair Spray. Everyone came together for the finale to sing Annie’s “Tomorrow” starring soloist, Audrey Graham.
